It's moving day!! Cole is moving out of the ICU and into another less critical care unit. He worked out with a physical therapist and an occupational therapist today and was very responsive.

Earlier today when the neurosurgeons asked Cole to hold up two fingers, he gave them the peace sign.  At the end of their evaluation, the neurosurgeons said they would no longer be coming in and will be handing off his case to the neurologist (that's a good thing). Cole opens his eyes a lot more now and keeps them open for longer periods of time.  He responds to voices by turning his head in the direction of whoever is speaking to him.

Even though Cole's still groggy and sleeps a lot, he's manages to throw a miniature sponge football on command and even places it on this foot in an attempt to kick it.  He repositions himself in bed to make himself more comfortable and has been sleeping on his side.

Clearly Cole's right arm is painful as was evidenced when one of the doctors put his hand on his shoulder and shook him; he continues to favor it.

The motor home is here and all set up in the Ronald McDonald parking lot. Tonight will be Ronda's first night actually getting a good nights rest--she will be sleeping in the motor home while Tom gladly takes his turn sleeping in Cole's room.
We've had to force Nana to leave the hospital and sleep at our house the last couple of nights. She reluctantly will be going home tomorrow morning.  Grandpa Dick has also been here nightly keeping watch with the rest of the family!

We know there's still a long road to follow, but Cole's daily progress is encouraging.

  4. Dear Tom, Rhonda and Sons,
My name is Tish and I am Karen Brink’s friend. Since Karen has been working with your family I feel like
I know each one of you.
I am so deeply sorry that you family has yet another trauma in your lives to deal with, this one being as close to a parents heart as you can get.
As Cole’s story unfolds, I am rejoicing with you all to see the wonder of the Lord’s healing power in his young life. I pray each day brings something new and wonderful that would bear witness to God’s work in Cole’s body.
May the comfort, strength and courage that the Lord is giving to Cole spill over into each one of your individual lives to help carry you through each and every day! Blessings to you ALL!
